These site-based installation works – one made for a botanical park in Chicago, the other in the mountains of Portugal – are quite different, yet related in their use of Latin. As the shared language of Christianity and Science, Latin represents the convergence of two historically contentious modes of Western thought. As a language of song, it embodies both the physical and the spiritual.
